Surviving Road Traffic Accidents

Many survivors of Road Traffic Accidents (RTA’s) suffer enormous psychological problems as a consequence of their experience, sometimes physical injuries as well.

For many, the emotional and psychological consequences appear to last longer than they anticipated, when “all the fuss” has died down, and they are left on their own to cope with a range of often uncomfortable and unhelpful thoughts and feelings:

“I dread going anywhere in a car… I feels so jumpy and have sometimes shouted out to the driver to be careful when nothing bad happened..”

“I’ve not been able to drive since the accident….even approaching my car fills me with an intense and overwhelming panic and fear..”

“Since the day of the accident I’ve not been on my bike…the thought of riding it again fills me with dread and I think “what if it happens again…next time I could be dead…”

“I feel like I am constantly on the look out for the next accident to happen and can’t relax..”

“Walking along a road is a constant battle not to run home to safety…I fear another car will appear as if from nowhere and knock me down again”

This new audio cd aims to provide some helpful techniques and strategies to assist those who have experience and RTA begin the psychological healing process.

The authors, Keith Chadwick and Elizabeth Doggart are experienced Cognitive Behavioural Therapists who have drawn from their years of working with survivors of RTA’s and their own experiences of RTA’s to produce this educational SELF-HELP book. AVAILABLE JULY 2009.
